WINDY CITY DADDIES CHICAGO BLUES BAND

  • Semaphore Workers Club 93 Esplanade Semaphore Australia (map)

In the first half of the 1900’s, African Americans from the Mississippi Delta and surrounding regions, moved north in search of a better life… many settled in Chicago Illinois, bringing their rich culture and music that originated in the deep south with them. By the late 1940’s, electric instruments and amplification were creating a new sound, a new form of music that still captured the essence of the earlier Delta Blues, becoming what we now know as “Chicago Blues”. One man has been given the recognition as being “ The Father of Chicago Blues”… McKinley Morganfield (Muddy Waters) April 4 1913-April 30 1983. The tough, harmonica driven Blues Band format that set the standard for the future of the Blues to come…. The Windy City Daddies pay tribute to this music and the artists who created it, taking the listener back 70 years, with their passion for the music and authenticity. Chicago Blues as it should be played, with conviction!!
